Introducing Yuja's Panorama TU Canvas
In April 2024, the Department of Justice published its final ruling updating Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act ("ADA"), providing specific requirements to ensure that web content and mobile applications are accessible. This rule has adopted the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines ("WCAG") into law, setting specific technical standards for text, images, sound, videos, and documents to eliminate digital barriers for individuals with disabilities.
All private higher learning institutions that accept federal funding must comply with these requirements by April 2027, and while investigations and complaints by federal agencies of universities regarding digital accessibility issues are extensive and ongoing, our responsibility goes beyond compliance.
At Tulane, we are committed to providing an academic environment where all students can fully and independently engage in the learning experience.
As part of this commitment, we are pleased to introduce YuJa Panorama, a new digital accessibility platform that will be integrated into Canvas this spring.
What is Panorama?
Panorama is an accessibility tool designed to support faculty, instructional staff, and course designers by highlighting inaccessible course materials and offering actionable guidance for remediation. This platform will assist instructors in improving the accessibility of digital content for their courses in compliance with the upcoming ADA Title II mandates. Common issues around digital accessibility includes hyperlinks, headings, captions for videos, alternative text for images, and online documents. Panorama highlights these common issues and provides step-by-step instructions to remediate course content to ensure accessibility.
What's the Timeline?
The platform will be introduced through a phased rollout beginning in March 2026, with broader availability over the coming months. During early phases, Panorama indicators may not be visible in all courses immediately, and features will be enabled gradually to allow for thoughtful adoption and adequate support.
Who's Leading This Initiative?
This collaborative effort is led by the Office for Campus Accessibility, the Innovative Learning Center (ILC), the Center for Engaged Learning and Teaching (CELT), and academic partners across schools and programs, all working together to advance Tulane's mission of creating, communicating, and sharing knowledge accessibly.
What's Expected of You Now?
We recognize that you are in the midst of a busy semester, and no immediate remediation work is required at this time. To help you prepare for the Panorama launch, we encourage you to take the following simple steps:
Watch a brief, self-paced overview video introducing Panorama and key digital accessibility concepts.
Attend an upcoming information session to learn more about how Panorama will support accessible course design. Sessions will be offered on the following dates:

Additional training opportunities, and school-specific guidance will be shared as the rollout progresses. Faculty who have specific questions about Tulane’s Digital Accessibility guidelines or would like individualized support are encouraged to contact the Office for Campus Accessibility for a consultation.
Thank you for your continued dedication to teaching, learning, and inclusion at Tulane. Your engagement in this initiative ensures that the knowledge we create and share is accessible to our entire academic community.
